Perfectly packed in a mason jar, all you need is a spoon to enjoy this make ahead meal on your morning commute! Apple Cinnamon is the flavor today! Fresh and crisp apples, subtle cinnamon, sweet raisins and grapes make up this delicious ready-to-eat treat!

MAKE IT FUN, PICK YOUR APPLES!

This healthy overnight oats recipe is one of my favorite flavors! It’s great during the fall when apples and grapes are in season! Every year my sister and I make sure a trip to the apple orchard happens. This last year was the best yet! My nephew John John was finally old enough to pick his own apples, it was the cutest thing! I also got to sport my baby bump around the orchard making sure baby Giuliana tasted all the delicious fall treats.
Once we got home my mind was swirling with endless ideas of delicious apple concoctions I could whip up! That night I made my Smoked Apples topped with vanilla ice cream, always a crowd pleaser.

A MEAL WITH SUBSTANCE

As expected we had a ton of apples left over so I decided to make overnight oats for the week. At the time I was 29 weeks pregnant with a healthy appetite and was looking for something to kick start my morning commute. These overnight oats definitely did the trick, being high in fiber they helped sustain me longer.

NO PLAIN JANE!

I can’t just eat my oatmeal plain, I need some texture! The crunch from the apples and grapes paired with the chewy raisins keep your mouth watering with every spoonful.

I prefer Gala, Honeycrisp or Granny Smith for this recipe, but truthfully you really can’t go wrong with any apple you pick!

TIPS:

There’s not a large amount of raisins in this recipe to keep the sugar down. Rather than leaving them whole, I chop them up into small pieces to make sure you get one in every bite.

No Mason Jar, No Problem! Although this on-the-go breakfast is definitely cuter in a mason jar you really don’t need one. My husband always teases me because I love putting meals in a mason jar, sometimes just for a pretty picture. However, a glass container with an airtight lid does just fine!

Warm it up! Why not? I love it cold especially for the quick mornings. When I have time I like to pop it in the microwave for a minute. The warm oatmeal is comfort on a quiet morning while I sip my coffee.

Batch it up! Want the whole family to enjoy overnight oats but don’t want a surplus of mason jars to clean? Make a large batch of the oatmeal and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator, then serve it up in individual bowls. I love to make a big batch whenever the whole family gets together for weekend brunches!
